This procedure is appropriate for both men and women who have experienced weight loss or have skin laxity for any reason. Thigh lift refers to the inner thigh area. (Please see buttock lift or body lift for outer thigh treatment.) This procedure is used to treat excess inner thigh skin.

Scarring is along the groin crease beginning at the center of the thigh in front and extending to end under the central buttock on each side. The procedure often involves some liposuction of the area to help “free up” the skin and allow it to move upward further.

After surgery, drains will be placed to help avoid fluid from collecting in the surgical area. These will be removed after the drainage has subsided at about one week. You will also be dressed in a girdle-like garment for at least 3 weeks.

For the first few weeks, you will need to “perch” at the edge of your chair or sit in higher chairs in order to avoid stretching the scar in the back under the buttocks. A thigh lift generally doesn’t help the area near the knees but treating this area with liposuction may be helpful.

The incisions will be covered by surgical tape that will stay on until the sutures are removed or dissolve. You do not need to do anything to take care of the incisions.
